Russia to Continue Oil Supplies to India Despite US Sanctions

Russia will continue to supply oil to India, and Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi by the end of the year. According to Reuters, one of the officials of the Russian Embassy in India announced this on August 20.
Russia has a "very, very special mechanism" to continue oil supplies to India, Roman Babushkin, Chargé d'Affaires of the Russian Embassy in India, told reporters at a press conference, adding that India's oil imports from Russia will remain at the same level.
Exact dates for the Putin-Modi meeting have not yet been set, he noted.
As a reminder, the US is preparing to impose an additional 25% customs duty on Indian exports on August 28 in connection with the expansion of oil imports from Russia, which have grown after Western countries imposed sanctions on Russian supplies after the invasion of Ukraine.
There are also information leaks from Russia about the possibility of selling Russian oil to India at a cheaper price to mitigate the effects of American customs duties.
