Russia's Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Mikhail Evdokimov, who was in occupied Artsakh with the diplomatic corps, addressed the issue of restoring the railway section of the so-called "Zangezur corridor." In a conversation with the Azerbaijani APA agency, he noted that the restoration of the road could take about two years.
"The length of the road is 44 km. Russian specialists in the field of railway construction have walked this road on foot. It is possible to restore the road in about two years, as the tunnels have not been destroyed; only the restoration of the railway complex is required," the ambassador said.
According to Evdokimov, it is not particularly important who and how will carry out the restoration work. He emphasized the regional significance of the road, adding that it will not only strengthen relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia but also create conditions for the development of economic ties in the region.
"The main thing is that the restoration of the road is completed as soon as possible," the Russian diplomat concluded.
