Russia Requests UN Security Council Meeting on Nord Stream
23 AUG 2025 06:15
Russia has requested an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council on the topic of the "Nord Streams." The meeting is scheduled for August 26 at 23:00 Moscow time. This was reported by the Permanent Mission of Russia to the organization.
As a reminder, on September 26, 2022, explosions occurred on two Russian export gas pipelines to Europe, "Nord Stream" and "Nord Stream-2." Gas supplies through the first pipeline were suspended at that time for repair work, and the second had not yet been put into operation. As a result, three of the four pipelines were damaged.
The operator company Nord Stream AG announced unprecedented destruction and refused to predict the timing for the restoration of the pipelines. Who is behind the pipeline explosions continues to be a topic of political discussion.
