Russia Hits Ukraine With Over 100 Drones, Advances on Front

On the night of September 16-17, Russia launched 113 unmanned aerial vehicles, mostly Shahed-type kamikaze drones, and about 10 missiles towards Ukraine. This is reported by official sources in Kyiv. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, their air defense systems were able to shoot down or suppress 89 UAVs.
The main targets of the strikes were the Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Kyiv regions. In Zaporizhzhia, at least 2 people were killed and 14 were injured, including two children, as a result of missile strikes.
In Kharkiv, a building of a local university was damaged by a UAV strike, injuring four people. In total, over the last 24 hours, at least 7 civilians have been killed and another 49 injured in Ukraine as a result of Russian strikes.
On the ground front, Russian troops continue to exert pressure in several directions. According to Russian sources, progress has been made in the Zaporizhzhia region, where Russian forces have captured the settlement of Olhivske.
Successes have also been recorded in the Pokrovsk direction, where Russian units have captured the villages of Ternove and Novopavlivka. The Russian Ministry of Defense also reports improving tactical positions in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions.
