In Ukraine's Sumy Oblast, in the city of Shostka, Russian forces struck a railway station, targeting the Shostka-Kyiv passenger train. According to preliminary data, at least 30 people were injured as a result of the attack, including passengers and employees of "Ukrzaliznytsia" (Ukrainian Railways).
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy published footage showing the aftermath of the strike, emphasizing the deliberate and terroristic nature of the attack. He noted that the Russian side could not have been unaware that it was striking a civilian object.
"The Russians could not have been unaware that they were striking civilians. And this is an act of terrorism that the world has no right to ignore. Every day, Russia takes human lives. And only force can make them stop," Zelenskyy stated.
The head of the Sumy Oblast military administration, Oleh Hryhorov, confirmed that it was the passenger train that was hit. According to him, all the injured are currently receiving necessary medical assistance. The "Suspilne" television company, citing its sources, reports about 30 wounded.
Rescue services and law enforcement agencies are working at the scene to clarify all the circumstances of the attack and the final number of casualties. This attack has become one of the deadliest acts against Ukraine's civilian infrastructure in recent times, once again highlighting the brutality of the ongoing conflict.
