Ramiz Mehdiyev, the former head of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan and former president of the National Academy of Sciences, who has been placed under a four-month house arrest as a measure of restraint, will be removed from the country's Security Council. This was stated to the media by the Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Madat Guliyev.
"Everything will be resolved within the framework of the law. The person was previously a member of the Council, and, naturally, he will be removed from the composition in the established order. The law applies to everyone without exception, and it will always be so. He is also a member of a number of organizations, including the 'Yeni Azerbaijan' party. Over time, in accordance with the principle of the rule of law, all issues will be settled," noted Madat Guliyev.
It is reminded that a criminal case has been initiated against Ramiz Mehdiyev on charges of state treason, actions aimed at seizing power, and legalizing property obtained through criminal means.
