Queen of Belgium to Visit Armenia in October

Queen Mathilde of Belgium will be in Armenia on a working visit from October 13-15 as a UN Advocate for the Sustainable Development Goals. The correspondent of "Armenpress" in Brussels reports that the press service of the Royal Palace of Belgium has released a message about this.

"This visit will provide an opportunity to highlight the importance of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and to establish a direct dialogue with many actors in Armenian society involved in the fields of innovation, social inclusion, healthcare, education, and environmental protection," the press release reads.

The Queen will have high-level meetings with the Armenian authorities to discuss the country's priorities in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and the challenges within the framework of the 2030 vision.

Queen Mathilde will have meetings with students to discuss their vision for practical initiatives towards sustainable development. a visit to the "TUMO" Center for Creative Technologies is planned.

Key points of the Queen's program will be environmental issues, within the framework of which she will visit the Gegharkunik province and the Lake Sevan area, which is particularly important in the context of Armenia's readiness to host the Biodiversity COP-17 conference in 2026.

The high-ranking guest will get acquainted with the afforestation project implemented by "Forest Armenia," which is aimed at preventing the threat of desertification and mitigating the negative consequences of climate change.

A visit to a kindergarten specializing in supporting children with special educational needs is also planned.

The Queen will also discuss issues related to the economic and social inclusion of refugees in Armenia.
