Princess Anne Makes Surprise Visit to Ukraine

The King of the United Kingdom's sister, Princess Anne, has made an unexpected visit to Ukraine to express her solidarity with the children and families facing the horrors of the Russian invasion. During the visit, she met with President Zelenskyy and paid tribute to the memory of the children who died as a result of the conflict.
This visit, organized at the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and not previously publicized for security reasons, took place just two days after a Russian air attack on Kyiv, which killed at least four people, including a 12-year-old girl.
According to Buckingham Palace, the main purpose of the 75-year-old princess's visit was to draw attention to the severe psychological condition of children living on the front lines. Accompanied by the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, Princess Anne visited a memorial dedicated to the memory of the fallen children. There, as a sign of respect, she left a teddy bear, noting that her daughter, Zara Tindall, had a similar bear. The memorial is dedicated to the memory of more than 650 children who have died as a result of the conflict since 2022. The princess also visited the Center for the Protection of Children's Rights and spoke with children returned from Russia and their families.
As part of the visit, Princess Anne also met with President Zelenskyy to discuss British support for Ukraine and the country's ongoing resistance.
Princess Anne is the second member of the British royal family to visit Ukraine since the beginning of the war. Her visit follows that of Prince Harry two weeks ago.
