President Khachaturyan Meets EU Commissioner Marta Kos

The President of the Republic of Armenia, Vahagn Khachaturyan, today received the European Union Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, who is in Armenia on her first visit.

Welcoming the guest, the President noted: "Your visit is important because a significant change has taken place in our reality since August 8. Today, as we celebrate the 34th anniversary of our independence, we essentially have the opportunity to live a fully peaceful life. On this path, we have made important progress also thanks to the support of the EU. In recent years, our cooperation has been particularly close, and its logic is aimed at establishing peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the region. The support and assistance that the EU provides to Armenia is commendable."

In her turn, Commissioner Marta Kos thanked for the reception, adding:

"It is an honor to start my first visit to Armenia with a meeting with you, on the eve of the important day when you celebrate the 34th anniversary of your country's independence. I congratulate you, your staff, and your people. What you have already achieved, and our desire on the part of the EU to continue to be by your side in these efforts, is of historical importance."
