Poland to Host NATO Troops; Tusk Warns of Pro-Russian Sentiment
15 SEP 2025 05:16
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has warned of the rise of pro-Russian sentiments and animosity towards Ukraine in the country. According to him, this wave is being provoked by the Kremlin, and the fears of the Poles are feeding it. Tusk called on politicians to restrain these sentiments, rather than adapt to them.
Polish President Nawrocki has signed an agreement to bring NATO troops into the country. This is being done in response to the Russian-Belarusian "Zapad-2025" military exercises and the drone incident in Poland.
Some of Poland's allies are inclined to the view that the incursion of Russian drones is more correctly considered the result of a mistake and not intentional.
The US President is also among the supporters of this approach. However, Poland's European allies, especially those who consider themselves vulnerable to the Russian threat, are of the opinion that the Alliance should react more harshly.
Russia must pay a concrete price for its provocations against NATO, stated Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský. He noted that he does not believe in "mistakes" regarding the violation of the alliance's airspace by Russian unmanned aerial vehicles.
