Poland Scrambles Air Force After Russian Strikes Near Border

Polish and allied aircraft were deployed early Sunday morning to secure Polish airspace. The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces announced that this was done after Russia launched air strikes in western Ukraine, near the Polish border.

"Polish and allied aircraft are operating in our airspace, while ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems have been brought to high readiness," the operational command's statement on the X social network reads.

Since midnight, almost the entire territory of Ukraine was on air alert after the country's Air Force warned of UAV and missile attacks by Russia.
