Poland Downs 10 Drones, Calls Up Reservists

Poland has shot down "Shahed" unmanned aerial vehicles for the first time: 10 downed UAVs are reported. Due to the drone incursion, Poland has announced an emergency call-up of reservists.

According to media and monitoring channels, at least 10 unmanned aerial vehicles entered Poland's airspace. The Polish Armed Forces have described this as an act of aggression and an unprecedented violation of borders.

The BBC notes that the downing of these "objects" could become a new phase in Russia's war against Ukraine. Journalists emphasize that this could be the first time since 2022 that a NATO member country has directly confronted a Russian threat.

Poland has announced an expedited call-up for its territorial defense reservists due to the UAV incidents, Ukrainian media report. Other state services have also been put on high alert.

Due to the drone incursion, the operation of four airports has been temporarily suspended. Warsaw's main Chopin Airport, as well as Warsaw-Modlin, Rzeszów-Jasionka (closest to Ukraine), and Lublin airports are not operating.
