Polish infrastructure: the target of Russian hackers

Poland's industrial control systems, which manage critical infrastructure, are regularly targeted by Russian hackers. This time, a hydroelectric power plant was attacked. This was reported by CyberDefence24. In August, Russian hackers again targeted a small hydroelectric power plant near Gdansk in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. On August 12, pro-Russian hackers published a video of a repeated attack on the power plant. They were able to stop the generator's operation.
In August, Polish Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski reported that the authorities had prevented a cyberattack on a major city's water supply system, which could have deprived residents of water.
"We managed to stop the attack at the last moment; our services were informed about it as soon as it started," he told Onet Rano.
Earlier in August, it was reported that the Russian hacker group Secret Blizzard had infected the devices of diplomatic personnel connected to Russian internet providers with the ApolloShadow spyware. The program can also collect usernames, passwords, authentication tokens, and other sensitive information, as well as create accounts with administrator privileges. This gives the hackers permanent access to the infected devices and the ability for covert surveillance.
