Pentagon Officials Outraged by 'War Department' Rebrand: Politico

Pentagon officials are outraged by the rebranding of the US Department of Defense. Many have expressed their disappointment, anger, and outright confusion over Donald Trump's efforts to transform the department into the Department of War.
According to Politico, the cosmetic changes could cost billions of dollars but will not help solve the military's problems, such as countering a more aggressive alliance of authoritarian states.
"This is exclusively for a domestic political audience," stated a former Department of Defense employee. "Not only will this cost millions of dollars, but it will have absolutely no effect on the calculations of China or Russia. Moreover, our enemies will use this to portray the US as a warmonger and a threat to international stability."
In addition, officials will have to change the seals of the Department of Defense at more than 700,000 Pentagon facilities in 40 countries and all 50 US states.
This includes everything from the letterheads of the six branches of the armed forces and dozens of other departments to embossed napkins used in cafeterias, embroidered jackets for Senate-confirmed officials, as well as keychains and jewelry sold in the Pentagon store.
"There will be millions of minor problems and inconveniences," said a representative of the Department of Defense. "This will take a huge amount of time and effort."
To officially change the name, it is most likely that a law will need to be passed by Congress, although a source familiar with the discussions said that the White House is looking for ways to avoid a vote in Congress.
