Pashinyan to Investigators: Strive for Efficiency, Not Ideals

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attended a solemn session dedicated to the Day of the Investigative Committee Officer. This was reported by the Government.
The Prime Minister congratulated the Chairman of the Investigative Committee, Artur Poghosyan, and all officers on their professional day and thanked everyone for their work. According to Nikol Pashinyan, there is a methodological problem in the Investigative Committee, as in all other areas, which is to achieve an ideal state. According to the Prime Minister, some things in this methodology must change, as the probability of disappointment and despair is high on the path to striving for this ideal. "We need to balance, to understand that, nevertheless, no matter how much we strive for the ideal, we must first understand that we will not reach it. We need to work clearly, in a regulated manner, and on increasing efficiency—on continuous efficiency improvement. It seems to me that the ideal or the perception of the ideal is that at each subsequent stage, we should record that we are working more efficiently, we are solving crimes more efficiently, we are preventing and preempting crimes more efficiently," said the head of the country.
In terms of effective work, Nikol Pashinyan emphasized the necessity of professionalism and noted that it is also necessary to understand what professionalism means. In that context, Nikol Pashinyan highlighted the value and moral system, and courage: "In terms of personnel policy, education is, yes, very important, but in reality, I think that courage is also a matter of education because courage also comes from whether a person, after all, understands what they are engaged in. Morality, in my opinion, is also something related to education."
The Prime Minister noted that the greatest task of law enforcement agencies should be not only solving crimes but also their prevention and preemption. "The fact that the Investigative Committee has a very important institutional role in terms of protecting Armenia's state and public security and legal order is, of course, an obvious fact. In essence, we have completed the reforms of the investigative system; we now have two investigative bodies, and this is the second year we are working with this system. Now we must monitor and also understand the process. I hope the time will come to reap the fruits, although it must be said that, on the whole, of course, the impressions are positive," said Nikol Pashinyan.
The country's leader also noted that there must be enough courage to go and confront, among other things, the shortcomings of the work done by state systems. "By this, the advantages, in my opinion, will be more emphasized. We must also emphasize the shortcomings, and I am grateful that the Chairman of the Investigative Committee addressed this so that the public does not get the impression that the Government and the Investigative Committee are satisfied with reality. No, we know all the problems."
In conclusion, Nikol Pashinyan once again congratulated and thanked those present and their family members.
On the occasion of the Day of the Investigative Committee Officer, a number of officers were awarded with letters of appreciation from the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, commemorative medals from the Prime Minister, and a valuable gift.
