Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received the delegation led by US Under Secretary of State Alison Hooker.
The Prime Minister welcomed Ms. Hooker's visit to Armenia and noted that in the recent period, cooperation between the two countries has risen to a new level. According to the head of the country, the partnership with the US is perceived in a new way both by the Government and the Armenian public. At the same time, Nikol Pashinyan highly appreciated the personal contribution of the US and President Donald Trump personally in establishing peace with Azerbaijan. The Prime Minister emphasized the implementation of the agreements reached within the framework of the Peace Summit held in Washington on August 8 and the work towards their implementation in accordance with the planned schedule. The head of the country also stressed the fact of the rich agenda formed in bilateral relations with the US, which includes various sectors and directions.
The US Under Secretary of State thanked for the hospitality, noting that she visited Yerevan to advance the vision set by President Trump and Prime Minister Pashinyan during the August meetings. Alison Hooker noted that she visited Yerevan to discuss deepening cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, infrastructure, regional connectivity, and security. At the same time, she highlighted the fact of the launch of bilateral working groups headed by Assistant Secretary of State Sonata Coulter, the purpose of which is to implement the bilateral agreements adopted at the historic summit and to develop Trump's path for international peace and prosperity.
The Under Secretary stressed that the continued cooperation between the United States and Armenia, coupled with progress towards a full peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the normalization of relations with Turkey, promises to open up the South Caucasus as a vital trade route. In her conviction, this will create significant benefits for both the American and Armenian peoples, which has been made possible thanks to the leadership of President Trump and Prime Minister Pashinyan.
During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed issues related to the implementation of the agreements reached between Prime Minister Pashinyan and President Trump, the activities of the working groups, the implementation of the TRIPP project, and future plans.
