Pashinyan Condemns "Brazen" Murder of Parakar Mayor

Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan addressed the shooting in Merdzavan on his social media page, as a result of which the head of the Parakar community and another person were killed.

"I strongly condemn the brazen armed attack in the Merdzavan settlement of the enlarged Parakar community, as a result of which the head of the community V. Grigoryan and his friend were killed. Another wounded person is in extremely serious condition. I express my condolences to the relatives of the victims and the beloved people of Parakar. I wish a speedy recovery to the injured person. The law enforcement officers of the RA are obliged to promptly identify all persons involved in the crime. Also, a detailed analysis should be made of the question of what preventive actions should have been taken to prevent a series of violence in Parakar, who should have carried out those actions and why they did not. The necessary conclusions will be drawn from this analysis," the Prime Minister wrote.

The Vice Speaker of the National Assembly Ruben Rubinyan also addressed the tragedy in Merdzavan on his social media page.

"I am shocked by the news of the murder of the head of the Parakar community Valodya Grigoryan and the policeman. I express my condolences to the relatives of the victims. The criminals must be quickly identified and punished," Rubinyan wrote.

The Prime Minister's Press Secretary Nazeli Baghdasaryan also expressed her condolences to the relatives of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

As we reported earlier, on September 23, at 23:52, the police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs received a report that shots had been fired on the Yerevan highway in the Merdzavan settlement of Armavir province. The head of the Parakar community and another person were killed. One person was injured.
