Pashinyan Meets CoE Chief Berset in Strasbourg

The Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia reports that the Secretary General of the Council of Europe welcomed Nikol Pashinyan's visit to Strasbourg and emphasized the fact of the active and effective cooperation formed between the Council of Europe and the Government of Armenia. According to Alain Berset, this cooperation has contributed to the promotion of institutional reforms in all directions in the RA. He expressed confidence that the programs planned within the framework of bilateral cooperation will continue to be successfully implemented in the future.
The Prime Minister of the RA expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and noted that this visit, six years after the first visit in 2019, is taking place at an important time. According to Pashinyan, having overcome the difficult challenges of the last five years, Armenia is at a turning point in its development. He emphasized that Armenia considers the Council of Europe a strategic partner in democratic development and highlighted the organization's role in strengthening democracy, human rights, and the rule of law.
The parties highly appreciated the effective implementation of the Armenia-Council of Europe Action Plan, as well as discussed bilateral agenda issues, referring to the course of democratic reforms in Armenia.
Alain Berset welcomed the pre-signing of the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan and expressed hope that the new reality created in the South Caucasus with the establishment of peace will open wide opportunities for development in the region.
