The heads of more than 20 countries and 10 international organizations will participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit and its related events in the city of Tianjin in Northern China. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev have also been invited to participate in the summit.
The assembly will be held from August 31 to September 1. The meeting of the Council of Heads of Member States will be chaired by Chinese leader Xi Jinping. The Chinese Foreign Ministry reported that President Xi Jinping will invite the summit participants to an official dinner and will also hold bilateral meetings with them.
As a reminder, in July of this year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia announced that Armenia, being in agreement with the fundamental principles of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, has expressed a desire to become a member of that structure. Armenia currently has the status of a dialogue partner.
