Pakistan Strikes TTP Leader in Kabul Drone Attack

Relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan have reached a critical point after an alleged drone strike in Kabul against the leader of the "Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan" (TTP) terrorist group, Noor Wali Mehsud. Although there is no clear information about his condition yet, the incident provoked a sharp reaction from Islamabad and, according to reports, has led to Pakistani military activity in Afghan territory.
According to sources from Afghanistan International, witnesses heard the sound of a UAV before the explosion in Kabul on the evening of October 9. Pakistani sources confirm that the target was indeed the TTP leader.
This attack took place against a backdrop of harsh rhetoric from Islamabad. On the same day, Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif accused the Afghan Taliban of harboring TTP militants and promised that "they will pay for it." Later, he made an even tougher statement: "We can no longer tolerate this. Enough is enough. Pakistan will now strike the shelters of those who help the terrorists, both in Pakistan and in Afghanistan, regardless of collateral damage."
The seriousness of the situation is also underscored by the fact that the head of the Pakistan Armed Forces press service, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has called an "emergency importance" press conference in Peshawar on October 10. He is expected to make statements of key importance for national security.
While official comments are awaited, witnesses report that Pakistani fighter jets have been spotted in the skies over Kabul, allegedly carrying out combat flights. Although Islamabad or Kabul have not yet confirmed this information, if it is true, this would be the most serious military operation carried out by Pakistan in Afghan territory in recent years.
"Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan," founded in 2007, aims to establish an Islamic state in Pakistan based on radical Sharia law and is responsible for numerous terrorist attacks. This tension in the region is at the center of attention of the international community, including the administration of US President Donald Trump.
