Pakistan Strikes Targets in Afghanistan Amid Border Tension

15 OCT 2025 05:15
The situation on the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan remains tense. The Pakistani army has struck terrorist positions in Afghanistan. According to the state-run PTV channel, this was in response to an attack on Pakistani border posts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
According to information provided by the republic's armed forces, on the evening of October 14, militants from the Taliban movement and the "Fitna al-Khawarij" group opened fire without any reason on Pakistani checkpoints in the Kurram district. In response, the Pakistani army launched an operation, during which an enemy checkpoint and a tank firing position were destroyed. In addition, one of the high-ranking commanders of "Fitna al-Khawarij" was eliminated as a result of the clashes.
This incident is not the only manifestation of border tension recently. Since October 10, fierce battles have broken out along the Afghan-Pakistani border, along the so-called Durand Line. The most intense clashes have been recorded in Kunar, Nangarhar, and Helmand provinces. According to some reports, Pakistani troops in a number of areas have been forced to abandon their positions and retreat.
The current escalation of the conflict began after Afghan authorities accused Pakistan of repeatedly violating the country's airspace and carrying out airstrikes. Later, official Kabul announced the successful completion of a "retaliation operation" against Islamabad.
