From the high rostrum of the UN General Assembly in New York, Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif delivered a speech outlining the key directions of his country's foreign policy, from establishing regional peace to the nuances of relations with global superpowers. In his speech, Sharif called for constructive dialogue with India, emphasized Pakistan's principled position on the Palestinian issue, and at the same time highlighted the role of both the United States and China in global development.
One of the key messages of the speech concerned relations with India. The Prime Minister of Pakistan stated that Islamabad is ready to start constructive negotiations with New Delhi with the aim of achieving stable peace and stability in the entire South Asia region. This statement was presented to the international community as an official readiness to resume dialogue to ease decades of tension between the two nuclear powers. Sharif's emphasis on negotiations is perceived as a step towards building an atmosphere of trust and finding ways for the peaceful settlement of bilateral issues.
Referring to the Middle East conflict, Sharif recalled that Pakistan was one of the first countries to recognize the state of Palestine, reaffirming his country's unchanging position on this issue. At the same time, he expressed special thanks to the US President for organizing a meeting with Arab and Muslim countries aimed at discussing the situation in the Gaza Strip. The Pakistani leader showed that despite principled positions, Islamabad is ready to cooperate with Washington to find solutions to complex regional problems.
In his speech, Shehbaz Sharif praised the role of Chinese President Xi Jinping in global development. He specifically mentioned the promotion of the "One Belt, One Road" strategic project, which, according to him, is of great importance for the development of global infrastructure and economic ties. In addition, Sharif highlighted the global governance initiative put forward by China, describing it as a "comprehensive framework for the just and sustainable development of the world."
