Overchuk: Armenia's Development Is Important for Russia

It is important for Russia that Armenia develops. This was stated by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexei Overchuk, speaking about the transport infrastructure that will pass through the territory of Armenia.

Baku seeks to have a route that will provide a convenient connection with Nakhichevan, Overchuk noted, adding that the unblocking of communications in the South Caucasus is also beneficial for Yerevan.

According to the Russian Deputy Prime Minister, today Armenia's border is closed with Azerbaijan and Turkey, there is a connection with Iran, but that road needs repair.

"The only convenient exit for Armenia to the outside world is through the territory of Georgia, where the connection with Russia is carried out through the only automobile checkpoint. It depends on weather conditions. It is very important that Armenia, as a member country of the EAEU, has the opportunity to develop normally and to have normal transport and logistics connections with its neighbors, including our country," the Moscow representative noted in an interview with RIA Novosti.
