The role of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) as a constructive platform contributing to regional peace continues to expand. This is stated in the Gabala Declaration adopted following the results of the 12th summit of the Council of Heads of State of the organization. Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov mentioned this in a statement for the press regarding the summit's results.
According to him, within the framework of the summit, participants exchanged thoughts on a number of key directions. Issues of deepening political dialogue between the Turkic states, strengthening economic integration, promoting transport and energy security, as well as expanding cultural and humanitarian ties were discussed. In addition, the importance of joint actions against regional and global challenges was emphasized. For the next year, the presiding country of the organization will be Azerbaijan.
The Gabala Declaration, adopted by the heads of state and government as a result of the meeting, reaffirmed the necessity of further strengthening solidarity in the Turkic world. The document emphasized commitment to the principles of sovereignty, independence, and statehood, as well as the strengthening of mutual trust.
"The leaders specifically underlined the strategic importance of developing the 'Middle Corridor' international transport route, including the 'Zangezur Corridor,' noting that this will significantly contribute to the expansion of connections between the Turkic states, the increase of trade turnover, and the strengthening of intra-regional economic cooperation," Bayramov noted in his speech.
