Opposition Protests Election Results in Chișinău

Hundreds of people have gathered in the center of Moldova's capital, Chișinău, to protest the results of the parliamentary elections. The pro-Russian opposition, led by former president Igor Dodon, states that it does not accept the voting results, claiming that the ruling party won solely due to the votes of citizens living abroad.
Speaking at the rally, Igor Dodon, one of the leaders of the "Patriotic Alliance," declared that the authorities are "celebrating too soon." He insisted that the ruling "Action and Solidarity" party (PAS) lost the vote held within the country and is maintaining its position solely at the expense of diaspora votes.
"These elections showed that PAS has once again lost within the country. They are again being propped up by the diaspora," Dodon stated, adding that they have submitted documents regarding violations to the Central Election Commission. He also accused the authorities of intimidating people, which, according to him, is why some did not participate in the elections.
A tense atmosphere prevailed at the rally, which had a pronounced pro-Russian and anti-Ukrainian character. As reported by local media, the situation escalated when a man in the square shouted "Glory to Ukraine," after which he was quickly removed from the area. In response, a supporter of the "Russian world" angrily shouted, "Ukraine will not command here."
Contrary to the official results, Dodon assured his supporters that "victory will be theirs," urging them not to be afraid. Some experts predict that the pre-election campaign and voting, which took place in a rather tense situation, may be followed by an equally tense post-election period in Moldova.
