Hamas May Accept Trump's Gaza Plan Amid Pressure: NYT

The Palestinian Hamas movement may accept the plan proposed by US President Donald Trump for the settlement of the conflict in the Gaza Strip. According to an analysis by The New York Times, such a development is possible as a result of strong pressure from Qatar and Turkey.
On September 29, Donald Trump published his 20-point plan for the settlement of the situation in Gaza. The proposal provides for an immediate ceasefire on the condition that all hostages are released within 72 hours. However, one of the key and most controversial conditions of the plan is that Hamas and other Palestinian factions must agree not to participate directly or indirectly in the governance of Gaza. According to the plan, control of the Strip will pass to a technocratic authority that will operate under the supervision of an international body headed personally by Trump.
The New York Times writes that Hamas's agreement is not excluded, taking into account several factors. "Hamas and its leadership are so exhausted by the war and are facing such open pressure from Muslim countries, including their sponsors Qatar and Turkey, that its agreement is not difficult to imagine," the newspaper notes. At the same time, the publication emphasizes that any decision made by Hamas, whether it be an agreement, a rejection, or the proposal of its own conditions, contains serious risks for the movement itself. Accepting the deal could be seen as a capitulation and deprive the group of power, while rejection could lead to the continuation of the war and isolation even from its allies.
Earlier, the Axios portal also reported that Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey are persistently calling on Hamas to accept Trump's plan.
