Norway Launches World's First Underwater Carbon Storage

Norway has launched the world's first underground carbon storage facility under the North Sea.
Carbon dioxide captured at industrial facilities is compressed and transported by sea to a terminal in Norway. It is then sent via a subsea pipeline to the "Aurora" underground storage facility, located approximately 2.6 kilometers below the seabed of the North Sea.
