"No Kings in the US": Millions Protest Against Trump Administration

On Saturday, millions of people took to the streets in all 50 states of the United States for mass protest marches against the administration of President Donald Trump. This second major action, organized by the "No Kings" coalition, united citizens around the concern that the country is sliding towards authoritarianism.
The protests, which were joined by more than 200 organizations, covered both large cities and small communities. Protesters carried posters criticizing Trump's policies, the actions of federal immigration agents, or simply mocking the president. In many cities, including Washington, where more than 200,000 people gathered near the Capitol, protesters wore inflatable animal costumes. The images of frogs, which were particularly widespread, became a symbol of the resistance that originated in Portland, Oregon.
In Chicago's Grant Park, according to preliminary data, at least 10,000 people had gathered, but the Chicago Tribune later estimated that the number of participants reached 100,000. When Illinois Representative Jonathan Jackson took the stage to speak, the crowd began to chant, "To hell with Donald Trump." Due to the expressions on many posters, television channels warned viewers that they were not responsible for their content.
The organizers pointed to several main reasons for the protest. They claim that Trump is using taxpayers' money to seize power by sending federal troops to cities, has announced that he wants to stay for a third term, and is "already behaving like a monarch." It was also noted that the administration has gone too far by ignoring the courts, cutting services, and deporting people without due process.
Several prominent politicians also participated in the protests, including Democratic senators Chuck Schumer and Chris Murphy, as well as independent senator Bernie Sanders. The organizers emphasized their commitment to nonviolent resistance, conducting training in security and de-escalation tactics for tens of thousands of participants.
