New Governors Appointed for Lori and Armavir Provinces

Aren Mkrtchyan, a member of the Civil Contract party who resigned his mandate in the National Assembly, has been appointed Governor of Lori, and Vahram Khachatryan, the former head of the Metsamor community, has been appointed Governor of Armavir.

The decisions were approved at the government session on September 4. Aren Mkrtchyan is 33 years old.

The post of Lori governor had been vacant since June 2, after the former governor Aram Ghazaryan was appointed Chief of Police.

Vahram Khachatryan is 41 years old. He is a former member of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), who announced the termination of his RPA membership after Pashinyan came to power in 2018.
