NATO Summit Ends; Turkey Announced as Host for 2026

The heads of state and government of NATO member countries adopted a joint declaration following the Alliance's summit in The Hague. The main points of the document are:

✔️ Member countries have committed to allocating 5% of GDP for the alliance's defense spending by 2035. Of this, 3.5% is for main defense needs, and 1.5% is for the protection of critical infrastructure.

✔️ "Allies reaffirm their enduring sovereign commitments to support Ukraine, whose security contributes to our security, and to this end, allies will include direct contributions for Ukraine's defense and its defense industry in the calculation of their defense spending."

✔️ The 2026 NATO summit will take place in Turkey.
