"I voted for a strong Vagharshapat." Grisha Harutyunyan, the "Mother Armenia" party's candidate for Mayor of Vagharshapat, declared this to journalists after casting his ballot at polling station 14/34.
During the conversation, Harutyunyan expressed a clear stance regarding the Armenian Apostolic Church. In response to a question about whether he would permit rallies in front of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin if elected, the candidate categorically ruled out such a possibility, stating that he would not authorize it. "We have stated numerous times that the 'Mother Armenia' party supports the Armenian Apostolic Church, and we stand by the Church," he emphasized. The candidate added that they conducted a petition in Vagharshapat in support of the Church, and according to him, "99 percent of the population stands by the Church."
Addressing possible post-election developments and coalition cooperations, Grisha Harutyunyan noted that they are ready to unite with all genuine opposition forces. "We do not rule out our cooperation with them," he stated.
It should be recalled that 8 political forces are participating in the elections for the Head of Vagharshapat community and members of the Council of Elders.
