Moscow Reminds of Its Interests in the Caucasus

We hope that during the development of agreements between Ankara and Yerevan, the realities and long-term interests of the neighbors in the South Caucasus will be duly taken into account.
Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian MFA, stated this on September 18 during a briefing.
For this, it is important to exclude the destructive interference of non-regional players and the already complicated negotiation process
Zakharova also touched upon the process of normalizing Armenia-Turkey relations. She emphasized that the Russian side has always advocated for the speedy reconciliation of the two neighboring states.
I think you remember how many times our country and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov personally participated in international meetings dedicated to this topic. It is no coincidence that in recent years, the first round of Armenian-Turkish negotiations took place on January 14, 2022, in Moscow. We view the normalization of relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Turkey as a prerequisite for restoring long-term peace and ensuring stable development in the South Caucasus.
According to the representative of the Russian MFA, Moscow is ready to continue supporting the efforts of its Armenian and Turkish partners in this direction, including within the framework of the "3+3" regional cooperation platform. "Let me remind you that it includes Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, as well as Russia, Iran, and Turkey," Zakharova listed.
