Mirzoyan: Baku's Demand on Constitution Is Unacceptable

Baku wants us to make changes to the Constitution. This is a condition that we do not accept. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated this in an interview with Deutsche Welle, as reported by "Azatutyun."

"The problem that the Azerbaijani side is talking about simply does not exist. Nevertheless, Azerbaijan sees such a problem and sets its preconditions based on it," said the Armenian Foreign Minister.

Ararat Mirzoyan, however, noted that the topic of constitutional changes was, in any case, on Armenia's agenda, but it was an internal demand and was formulated earlier than Baku started to raise the issue.

"We do not agree with those conditions, but, as I have already mentioned, we ourselves have been talking about changing the Constitution or adopting a new one since 2018. The commission has almost completed its work, and most likely, we will hold a referendum on this issue after the 2026 parliamentary elections."
