Minister Warns of New Sophisticated Fraud Scheme in Armenia

Currently, a group of scammers is carrying out highly targeted attacks on people working in various fields. Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan wrote about this on his Facebook page.
"The scammers are well-prepared: they seriously study people's personal, work, and social connections, after which, through a fake user account (WhatsApp, Viber, etc.) created in the name of a familiar person well-known in a particular professional field, they present false information, alleging that the National Security Service is interested in the person.
Then, a fake NSS employee, who, by the way, (often) speaks Russian, contacts the person. In the end, the targeted individual is forced by all means to transfer money from their bank accounts to another account, supposedly to be 'saved'. Beware, do not fall for provocations," the minister wrote.
Earlier, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan had raised an alarm, stating that fake accounts had been opened in her name on various platforms.
In parallel, information security specialists have also been actively addressing this new challenge in recent days, urging caution.
