Merdzavan Double Murder Solved; Two Suspects Arrested

During the preliminary investigation of the criminal proceedings initiated in connection with the murder in Merdzavan, public criminal prosecution was initiated against the arrested person under the article for aiding in murder. This is reported by the Investigative Committee.

A motion to apply detention as a measure of restraint against the latter was submitted to the court, which was satisfied.

During the preliminary investigation, as a result of investigative actions, a gym membership card was also found in a sports bag, which was sent to the body conducting the inquiry. It turned out that the membership card belonged to the person who committed the murder.

Continuing the operational-intelligence measures undertaken by the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to fully solve the crime, the identity of the other group member who apparently committed the murder was also clarified and revealed; he was arrested and presented to the body conducting the preliminary investigation.

The latter gave a self-confessional testimony and pointed out the location of the automatic rifle that was the instrument of the crime. The investigator also seized the automatic rifle, which was the instrument of the crime.

Public criminal prosecution has been initiated against the person who committed the murder under Article 155, Part 1 (2 episodes) (murder), Article 44-155, Part 1 (attempted murder), and Article 335, Part 1 (illegal circulation of firearms, their main components, ammunition, and other materials, devices, objects) of the Criminal Code.

Notice: A person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in the manner prescribed by the Code of Criminal Procedure by a court verdict that has entered into legal force.

Let us remind you that as a result of the shootings on the Yerevan highway in the settlement of Merdzavan, Armavir region, the head of the Parakar community and another person were killed.

One person was wounded, and a criminal case was initiated in connection with the shootings and murders.

The second person killed as a result of the Merdzavan shootings is police officer Karen Abrahamyan.

We had previously reported the identity of the person injured in the Merdzavan shootings. The latter is Artsrun Galstyan. On September 25, he regained consciousness and was interrogated.

Video footage had recorded that a masked person ran up to Valodya Grigoryan and the others, opened fire, and fled.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan strongly condemned the incident and emphasized: "The law enforcement officers of the Republic of Armenia are obliged to quickly identify all persons involved in the crime."
