Meningitis Death Reported in Armenia's Vayots Dzor Province

On September 9, a resident of the Vayots Dzor province was diagnosed with "Meningitis, meningococcemia." He was hospitalized in serious condition, but, unfortunately, the next day the patient was pronounced biologically dead. The National Center for Disease Control and Prevention reports this and adds that the epidemiological investigation and all necessary measures aimed at preventing the spread of the infection have been carried out. Supervision among close contacts continues with home visits.

It should be noted that meningococcal infection is an acute infectious disease caused by meningococci. The infection is transmitted by airborne droplets.
