At a Sotheby's auction, a toilet bowl named "America," weighing over 100 kilograms, was sold for $12.1 million. This is evidenced by data from the auction house's website.
"The owner of the toilet bowl put up for auction is American billionaire Steven Cohen," reported the "New York Times."
The author of the art object is Italian conceptual artist Maurizio Cattelan. He created two such toilet bowls, one of which was stolen in 2019.
As a reminder, Cattelan is also known for his work in the form of a banana taped to a wall, which was also sold at auction last year.
