Man Dies in Suspected Shark Attack in Sydney

New South Wales police in Australia have reported that a man has died on a Sydney beach, presumably as a result of an attack by a "large shark."

In a statement, police said the man was pulled from the sea at Long Reef Beach in the morning but "died at the scene." "Two parts of a surfboard were found and sent for examination," the statement said.

Saturday's incident has led to a series of restrictions in the popular area known as the Northern Beaches. Many beaches have been closed.
