Malta to Officially Recognize State of Palestine in September

The Prime Minister of Malta, Abela, has announced that his country will officially recognize the State of Palestine at the UN General Assembly in September.

"Our position reflects our commitment to efforts to establish peace in the Middle East," he noted.

In addition, 9 more countries have announced their intention to take a similar step: Andorra, Australia, Canada, Iceland, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Portugal, San Marino, and Finland.

It is noted that 12 out of 27 EU countries have already recognized the State of Palestine.
