Major X-Class Solar Flare Erupts, Aimed at Earth

The Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences reports that a powerful flare has been recorded on the Sun, directed towards planet Earth.

According to specialists, the flare's power reached the X1.79 level. This indicator is classified as one of the highest, which testifies to the exceptional intensity of the event. Flares of such power can cause strong magnetic storms, which in turn can affect the operation of communication systems and power grids on Earth.
