Lukashenko Urges Development of Crypto Mining in Belarus

Belarusian President Lukashenko has called for the active development of cryptocurrency mining in the country, viewing it as an important tool to get rid of dollar dependency. He characterized this sector as one of the priority directions for the development of Belarus's electricity industry.

"Now the whole world is sick with a global problem: getting rid of the dependence on one currency—the dollar. And this process will continue to grow. Cryptocurrency is probably one of the options to get out of that dependence," Lukashenko said during a meeting on the results of the work of the Belarusian NPP, as quoted by the "BelTA" agency.

Responding to the concerns of the meeting participants about the instability and risks of mining, the Belarusian President urged them not to worry. "He who is afraid of wolves does not go into the forest," he replied, emphasizing his determination.

This is not the first time Lukashenko has spoken about the need to develop cryptocurrencies. In March of this year, he had already instructed the Minister of Energy, Alexei Kushnarenko, to direct the country's surplus electricity to the development of mining, thereby stimulating the growth of the sector.
