Details have become known regarding the royal jewels stolen as a result of a major robbery from the Louvre Museum on October 19. In total, the criminals managed to take 9 precious items belonging to French emperors. The authorities have published the description of five of them, the value of which is described as "priceless."
First is the crown of Empress Eugenie, decorated with 212 pearls, 1998 brilliant-cut, and 992 rose-cut diamonds. Second is Empress Eugenie's decorative ribbon-shaped brooch, covered with 2438 brilliant-cut and 196 rose-cut diamonds.
Also on the list is the "Empress Eugenie" brooch, made in 1855. A piece of a sapphire earring, once worn by Queen Hortense, the wife of Louis Bonaparte, and Queen Maria Amalia, the wife of Louis-Philippe I, was also stolen.
The criminals also took a necklace with emeralds and diamonds, which Napoleon had given to his second wife, Marie-Louise. Along with their pure material value, the stolen items also represent enormous historical and cultural value for France.
