Mourning has been declared in Portugal for the victims of the funicular accident. In addition to national mourning, the Lisbon City Council has declared a three-day mourning period for the victims of the accident. "Our city has never seen such a tragedy," said Mayor Carlos Moedas.
As a reminder, on September 3, the famous "Gloria" funicular in Lisbon derailed and, sliding down a steep street, collided with a building. From the force of the impact, the car "folded like a paper house," one of the eyewitnesses told the SIC television channel.
As a result of the accident, at least 15 people were killed and 18 were injured, 5 of them seriously. No information has yet been reported on the nationalities of the victims and casualties, but it is known that there are foreigners among them.
