Lebanon's Army Proposes Plan to Disarm Hezbollah

6 SEP 2025 10:38
The Lebanese army has submitted a plan to the government, proposing to establish a state monopoly on the use of weapons by the end of 2025. This means that Hezbollah must disarm.
According to a number of media outlets, the government has approved the project, although there were also opponents. It is noted that the authorities hope to get the movement's consent to avoid civil clashes.
The topic has become urgent, as Israel has stated that if Hezbollah does not accept the disarmament plan, the IDF will continue military operations in Lebanon.
Benjamin Netanyahu's office warned that "Israel is closely following developments in Lebanon and will do its utmost to ensure the security of its citizens."
More simply, this means active military operations in the territory of Lebanon, from which the country's government is trying to insure itself.
