Lavrov Effectively Admitted: No Agreement Reached with the US

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has made a series of statements, presenting Moscow's position on nuclear security, relations with the US, and the situation in Europe. His main message was Russia's determination on the issue of nuclear deterrence.
"If any of the nuclear powers conducts a nuclear weapon test, Russia will do the same," Lavrov emphasized. At the same time, he noted that Russia, recognizing the responsibility of the great powers to prevent a nuclear war, proposes to extend the limitations of the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty for one year.
Speaking about a possible meeting between the presidents of Russia and the US, Lavrov noted that if Washington renews its initiative, then "Budapest would be the preferred location for Russia for a meeting between Putin and Trump." He denied Trump's statements that Russia had allegedly resumed nuclear tests, stressing that Moscow is ready to discuss the concerns of the American side.
Lavrov recalled that Putin and Trump had reached a certain understanding in Anchorage, and this should have been followed by a meeting of representatives of the foreign ministries, militaries, and special services of the two countries.
The Russian Foreign Minister made harsh assessments addressed to a number of European countries. According to him, "Germany, the homeland of Nazism," no longer feels remorse and strives to become "the main military force in Europe."
Referring to the Baltic states, Lavrov noted that they overestimate their importance and that in the EU they are "tasked with doing as many nasty things as possible in relations with Russia."
Speaking about Great Britain, he stressed that the British Empire no longer exists, and London's role now is to provoke conflict situations. According to him, Europe is unsuccessful in its attempts to sway the US from its position on Ukraine.
