Lavrov on Trump-Putin Respect and His "USSR" Sweater

Moscow respects Trump because he defends US interests, and there are grounds to believe that Trump respects Putin because he defends Russia's interests, Lavrov said in an interview with NBC.

Regarding the USSR: if you don't remember your roots, if you don't have nostalgic memories of childhood, youth, first love, friends, then you can hardly truly represent humanity and human values, Lavrov said, commenting on the sweater with the inscription "USSR" that he wore upon arrival at the Alaska summit.

Lavrov also noted that his appearance in such a sweater was not a signal of Russia's desire to restore the USSR.
