On Sunday, after lasting about five hours, the 36th phase of the Kilauea volcano eruption in the Hawaiian Islands has ended. According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), during the eruption, lava fountains reached heights of up to 300 meters (1000 feet), covering more than half of the crater with lava.
Authorities have warned that volcanic gases and ash could spread southwest due to the wind, particularly affecting the Ka'u district. The Civil Defense Agency advises residents with respiratory sensitivities to take extra precautions, and drivers to be careful on the roads due to possible reduced visibility.
