The Ukrainian city of Kherson has once again been subjected to an artillery attack, this time targeting a children's hospital. On the morning of October 29, Russian forces struck the city's Dniprovskyi district, causing significant damage to one of the medical facilities. This was reported by the head of the regional military administration, Oleksandr Prokudin.
On his Telegram channel, he wrote that among the victims were both hospital staff and a child. "Among the injured are three employees and a child. A nine-year-old girl received a blast injury and a shrapnel wound to her shin," Prokudin noted. According to him, the medical facility's staff sustained blast injuries and wounds of varying severity.
Later, the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office specified that the target of the shelling was indeed the children's hospital and provided a higher number of casualties. "As a result of the shelling, according to preliminary data, nine people were injured, including four children and three medical workers," the prosecutor's office statement said. The department reported that the hospital building was severely damaged, and the blast wave also damaged nearby buildings.
According to the Ukrainian investigation, around 09:20 in the morning, the Russian military "opened artillery fire on the Kherson children's hospital, where young patients, their parents, and medical staff were present at the time."
The Russian side has not commented on this statement, as with previous shellings of Kherson. The city is effectively on the front line, which is divided by the Dnipro River. The other side of the river is under the control of Russian forces. The parties regularly accuse each other of mutual shelling.
