Kazakhstan may open a new trade route with Turkey that will pass through the territory of Armenia. This was announced to journalists by the country's Minister of Economy, Serik Zhumangarin, local media report.
According to the minister, the new route through the territory of Armenia will allow Astana to provide direct access to Turkey's seaports.
Zhumangarin clarified that Kazakh goods currently reach Turkey via a different route. "We now access the Black Sea ports through Azerbaijan and Georgia," he noted.
If the new project is implemented, according to the minister, the route will be shortened and become more direct. "The new route will provide an opportunity to reach Nakhichevan, and from there, directly to Turkey, to its seaports," Zhumangarin emphasized.
This statement is important in the context of the unblocking of regional transport communications and the formation of new economic corridors, highlighting Armenia's potential role as a transit country between Central Asia and Turkey.
