A 7.7 magnitude earthquake occurred off the coast of Kamchatka, Governor Vladimir Solodov reported. The earthquake occurred at 5:37 Moscow time, 114 kilometers east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The focus was at a depth of 39.5 km.
No information about damages has been received. Tremors were felt in separate areas of the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Vilyuchinsky, and Yelizovsky districts with an intensity of up to six points.
A tsunami threat has been declared in Kamchatka. The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia has warned that tsunami waves of up to 120 cm in height could reach the coastal zones. "We ask you to be especially vigilant when visiting Khalaktyrsky beach and other tsunami-prone areas," Governor Solodov wrote on his Telegram channel.
